OCT 2025

With the first frost, the dahlia season comes to a natural end in the cut flower garden.

In the vegetable garden, on the other hand, we protect cold-sensitive plants with frost protection nets so that they can ripen undamaged.

Away from the protected beds, the frost reveals its natural beauty. We are particularly fascinated by the Evereste crabapple and the smoke bushes. Their red and magenta tones, covered in ice crystals, are reminiscent of fairground treats. For birds, especially blackbirds, the small wild apples are a welcome winter meal. The other trees and shrubs also provide food and shelter for the cold months.

That's why we leave our perennials standing until spring and only cut them back when the first green shoots begin to sprout again.
